You can bet for the dealers, for the player or for a tie. This means you think this outcome will occur. The dealer or the player will have the hand closest to nine.

Each card has its own value in the game of baccarat. Aces are worth one point. Face cards and the ten are all worth 0 points. The numbered cards from 2 to 9 are worth their face value. If the value of the baccarat hand exceeds ten, then 10 points would be subtracted from the value. So, if your hand totals 13, 10 would be subtracted making the hand worth 3 points. Depending on the value of your hand, you do have the option of taking a third card. Typically this occurs when the hand total is 5 or less. Anything higher usually stands or refuses an additional card.
